SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) allows users to connect securely to EAS servers to transfer files - it works similarly to regular FTP.
SSH (Secure Shell) allows users to connect securely to EAS servers with an interactive shell interface - it works similarly to telnet.
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is used on all secure web interactions with EAS servers - it works transparently to the user.
ISG only allows secure connections to EAS servers to help prevent attacks and malicious use.
There are several ways to update your Windows 2000/XP computer at home. One is by using the Windows update icon from your start menu.
Click the 'Start' button in the lower left corner of the screen, find the 'Windows Update' icon in the programs menu listing (A browser window will launch and may ask if you want to install a patch management application, You will need to click 'Yes' on this); The screen will show the "express" or "custom" install choices. The "express" option will install all updates needed, on the other hand, the "custom" option will allow you to choose which updates to install. (better option).
If there are Critical/ High-priority Updates and Service Packs that have not been installed, Click on that Selection in the menu and it will show these items in the main window.
Select the items you would like to install by clicking on add, when you have selected all of the items you would like to install click the 'review and install updates link at the top of the main area of the page. A listing will appear with all of the items you selected. If you would like to install these items then click on Install Now; after all of the Critical Updates and Service patches have been installed, you may be prompted to reboot.
Also, If your updates are set up to be done automatically, a pop up will prompt every time new updates are ready to be installed. Let it run to update your machine.
NOTE: You will have to supply your gtID# and password in order to complete the software download.
For Windows Systems, use VirusScan Enterprise.
For Macintosh Systems, use McAfee VirusScan.
For Linux Systems, use VirusScan.
