Plotter/Poster Printouts

Where can I find more information about creating posters for presentation?

Click here to follow Dr. Dana Hartley’s advice, or visit the poster advice page from Swarthmore College for tips, tricks, and detailed explanation for poster creation and presentation.

What can be printed?

Posters that are for Georgia Tech academic purposes only.

What format can be submitted for printing purposes?

The EASISG staff can open Microsoft Power Point, Word, Publisher, Excel as well as PDF (created real size with one dimension set to 36 inches), and Adobe Photoshop files.

What size can be printed?

EAS only provides 36-inch wide paper. Always set one dimension (width/length) to 36 inches. Also be sure to set margins of at least 1/2 inch in all sides of your document. The machine is not capable of doing borderless printing. Without margins some information on your document will get cut on the edges.

What rules should posters follow in order to be processed for print?

  • Submit your job for printing at least 48 hours (two business days) in advance. The support staff cannot be held responsible to get a poster finished for a deadline if 48 hours is not given for processing. Please allow a longer period of time for special events like the Graduate Symposium, the AGU conference, or other conferences in which EAS members/groups will participate. The more participants attending will increase the number of processing jobs for the same time frame and the 48 hour-rule has to be strictly enforced.

  • Do not use color backgrounds (light or dark) on the whole poster, titles or other places where they are not needed. The EASISG staff reserves the right to refuse printing any poster with unnecessary colored backgrounds because they diminish the quality of the job and are a waste of ink. Click here to see examples.
  • Pre-set the page sizes to 36 inches by “x” inches (“x” max is generally 48 inches).
  • Make sure to proofread and review your job before submission. You may not print more than two copies of a single poster for a single event. Please notice that reprints are also subject to the 48-hour rule. Also notice that the EASISG staff will not make any corrections to your submission.

Who can print to the plotter?

Faculty, Post-docs, graduate students, and undergraduate students (special projects previously approved by the undergraduate coordinator) are allowed to request printouts from the plotter. The equipment is not available for personal use. All print jobs are subject to review by the staff in charge of printing.

How to submit the files to be printed?

Documents to be printed in the plotter must be submitted on a CD or USB keychain to office No L2204 in the ES&T Bldg between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please read and understand the following EASISG policies in order to avoid delays in printing your posters.
